Using eLibrary Search (EDS) to search, locate and access library resources Online
EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) is the interface used for searching, locating, and accessing resources the library owns and subscribes to. In Health Library Ireland, we refer to this as eLibrary Search.
In this session, Richard Crookes, Training Manager with Ebsco, will demostrate how we aim to make the research process as accessible and intuitive as possible.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the purpose and functionality functionality of the Ebsco Discovery Service (EDS)
- Perform a basic keyword search in EDS
- Create a search strategy using wildcards and precision [proximity] operators
- Using Boolean search operators AND, OR and NOT to create a very broad or very narrow search
- Use a personal folder to save and retrieve searches and articles
- Create alerts to keep current with the literature
